Teknam Group was founded in 1992 in Ankara, Turkey, to design and manufacture various analytical and medical devices. The company aimed to address gaps in the industry with a commitment to quality service and business models.
In 2005, Teknam became the Turkish representative of the German company Ge:Net, importing up to 85m tube-type wind measurement towers, sensors, and recording systems to meet the wind measurement needs of investors.
Since 2007, under the Tech-Wind brand, Teknam decided to produce locally, designing its cage tower and starting sales and installation of turnkey solutions for wind measurements. They developed towers with designs that simplified installation, enhanced durability, and made maintenance, service, and sensor changes easier, thanks to their R&D efforts.
In 2008, Teknam established its R&D department and, under the Tech-Sen brand, began producing all sensors and data recording systems used in wind measurement systems, focusing on continuous development.
From its establishment in 1992 until 2008, the 16 years of accumulated expertise in mechanical and electronic design became the driving force behind their subsequent R&D efforts.
In 2011, with support from TÜBİTAK TEYDEB 1507, Teknam started R&D projects on Turkey’s first local wind speed meter (anemometer), wind direction meter (wind-vane), temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors, and data logging system (data logger). The project was successfully completed in 2012, leading to the final production of these sensors. Additionally, they developed radiation shields, aviation warning lights, and wind warning systems, supported by TEYDEB and other sources.
In 2014, Teknam launched a new project with TÜBİTAK TEYDEB support, leading to the production of sensors like Cup and Weight rain gauges, rain detectors, Ultrasonic snow depth meters, Global solar radiation meters, and Sunshine duration sensors by the end of 2016. Subsequently, they also produced soil temperature sensors and fully automatic Evaporation measuring devices, completing their range of meteorological device sensors. Teknam has become one of the few companies worldwide with such a broad product range.
The company also contributes to Renewable Energy Source (RES) and Solar Energy Source (GES) projects. In the Nevşehir region, Teknam transferred a total of 80MW GES project to investor companies after receiving call letters, contributing to unlicensed GES investments.
